Straight Front. Portal Rear.

Business in the front, party in the rear. The Grind™ 328 LCG OD Transmission was designed specially for the more and more trending straight front and portal rear axle performance setup.

Having the significant part of the RTR (Ready-To-Run) weight in the front, the straight axle keeps your COG (Center Of Gravity) as low as possible while the portal gives tons of clearance with somewhat higher COG but having less weight in rear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an LCG OD transmission?

To understand the essence of an LCG OD transmission for scale rock crawling first we have to define what LCG and OD are.

What is LCG?

The LCG stands for “low center gravity”. This is a build style, a way of thinking in the scale rock crawler scene. The key focus in LCG is on getting the center of gravity as low as possible which makes your rig more capable when it comes to climbing upwards, sidehilling or downwards.

Based on these the optimal LCG transmission is as light and as low as possible. Recent stage the Grind™ 431 LCG OD Transmission and the Grind™ 328 LCG OD Transmission are the lightest and lowest LCG transmissions in their class.

What is OD?

The OD stands for “overdrive”. Overdrive is a solution to drive one of the axles faster than the other. In scale rock crawling the basic goal is having the proper front overdrive which means that the front wheels are rotating faster than the rear ones.

Overdrive is one of your best friends when it comes to competition level scale rock crawling. And overdrive is maths.

We at Team PROCRAWLER® engineered the perfect overdrive rate for the  Grind™ 328 LCG OD Transmission and your straight front / portal rear setup.

Why are weight and height so important?

If you want to keep the COG (center of gravity) of your scale crawler rig as low as possible it is critical how much weight you add above the chassis rail lines.

As center positioned transmissions are mounted on the skid of your rig, it is very important to have it as light and as low as possible to minimize the weight above the chassis rails.

Recent stage the Grind™ 328 LCG OD Transmission is the lightest and lowest LCG transmission in its class.

What chassis rails is the Grind™ 328 compatible with?

We designed and engineered the Grind™ 328 LCG OD Transmission to be compatible with all major performance chassis rails available on the market. As it comes with its dedicated skid the only requirement is having the market standard skid mounting hole pattern on your rails.

Of course, the most seamless fit are the geometry of the PROCRAWLER® LCG chassis systems:

If high-performance is a key focus for you, these pro level pairing will be a blast for you and your scale rock crawling experience.
